இலண்டன் கனகதுர்க்கை அம்மன் ஆலயமானது கடந்த 30 வருடங்களாக ஆலய நிதியின் மூன்றில் இரண்டு பகுதியினை இலங்கையில் வடகிழக்கு மற்றும் மலையபகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகின்ற எமது மக்களின் தேவைகளை உணர்ந்து அதற்கேற்ற பல்வேறு மனிதாபிமான சேவைகளுக்கு வழங்கி வருகின்றது. அதன் அடிப்படையில் எமது விவேகானந்த சமுதாய அறக்கட்டளை ஊடாகவும் பல்வேறு திட்டங்களை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தி வருகின்றது.

அதனடிப்படையில் முல்லைதீவு மாவட்டத்தில் புதுக்குடியிருப்பில் அன்னை ஸ்ரீ சாரதா நிலையத்தினை ஆரம்பித்து வைத்து அதற்கான மாதாந்த உதவிகள் மற்றும் ஏனைய சமூகச் செயற்பாடுகள், என பல உதவிகளை வழங்கிவருகின்றது. அதன்மூலமாக தற்போது அங்கு வறுமையான குடும்பங்களில் உள்ள மற்றும் தாய், தந்தையை இழந்த 60க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பெண்மாணவிகளுக்கு அடிப்படைத் தேவைகளுடன் கல்வி மற்றும் ஏனைய வலுவூட்டல் செயல்பாடுகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது.

அவ்வாறே மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்திலும் விவேகானந்த தொழில்நுட்பவியல் கல்லூரியுடன் இணைந்து பாடசாலை கல்வியின் பின் பல்கலைக்கழக வாய்ப்பு தவறவிட்டவர்களுக்காக தொழில் பயிற்சி மற்றும் வாழ்வியல் வழிகாட்டல் பயிற்சிகள் போன்ற செயற்பாடுகளை மேற்கொள்வதற்கு கொம்மாதுறையில் இலண்டன் கனகதுர்க்கை அம்மன் சமுதாயக் கல்லூரி என்ற கல்லூரியினை ஆரம்பித்து அதற்கான உதவிகளையும் வழங்கி வருகின்றது.

இது தவிர நாட்டில் ஏற்படுகின்ற அனர்த்தங்கள் மற்றும் அவசர தேவைகளின் போது உடனடி நிவாரணங்களையும் வழங்குவதுடன், பல்வேறு தேவைகருதிய மனிதாபிமான செயற்பாடுகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது. அதில் குறிப்பாக கல்வித்துறைக்கான பாரிய பங்களிப்பாக பல நூறு பல்கலைக்கழக மாணவர்களுக்கு மாதாந்தம் 5000 LKR படி பல்கலைக்கழக கற்றல் முடியும் வரை தெரிவுசெய்த மாணவர்களிற்கான உதவினையும் மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது.

இவ்வாறு லண்டன் கனகதுர்க்கை அம்மன் ஆலயம் இலங்கையிலே பல்வேறு சேவைகள் மனிதாபிமான செயல்பாடுகளை சமூக ஆன்மீக மேம்பாடுகளை மட்டும் கருத்தில்கொள்ளாது, பொருளாதார மேம்பாடுகளையும் கருத்தில் கொண்டு இலங்கையில் காணப்படும் அரசு அரசு சார்பற்ற தன்னார்வ தொண்டு அமைப்புக்களுடன் இணைந்து பணிகளை முன்னெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றது. அந்த வகையில் எமது அறக்கட்டளைக்கும் மேற்குறிப்பிட்ட பல்வேறு செயற்பாடுகளிற்கும், உதவியினை வழங்கி வருகின்றது.

London Kanagathurkai Amman Temple: Three Decades of Compassionate Service and Empowerment in Sri Lanka

For over 30 years, the London Kanagathurkai Amman Temple has demonstrated remarkable compassion, allocating two-thirds of its temple funds towards humanitarian and development activities benefiting communities in Sri Lanka’s North, East, and Malayagam region. This longstanding commitment has significantly contributed to various impactful initiatives, implemented in collaboration with the Vivekananda Community Foundation (VCF).

In Mullaitivu district, specifically in Puthukudiyiruppu, the temple’s support enabled the establishment of the Annai Sri Sarada Centre. Through this center, monthly aid and numerous social activities have been initiated, assisting over 60 young girls from impoverished backgrounds, including orphans. The center provides educational resources, empowerment programs, and essential support to ensure a stable foundation for their futures.

Similarly, in Batticaloa district, the London Kanagathurkai Amman Community College was established in collaboration with Vivekananda College of Technology (VCOT). This college aims to assist students who have completed schooling but missed the opportunity for higher education, offering vocational training and life skills guidance. These initiatives have empowered numerous youth, enabling them to pursue stable careers and lead productive lives.

Beyond educational support, the temple has actively participated in immediate disaster relief efforts and emergency responses. Its humanitarian approach includes monthly stipends of LKR 5,000 for hundreds of selected university students, helping them sustain their studies until graduation.

The London Kanagathurkai Amman Temple’s holistic approach goes beyond social and spiritual upliftment, encompassing economic development by partnering with governmental and non-governmental organizations in Sri Lanka. Recently, the temple significantly contributed to an appreciation ceremony for high-achieving Advanced Level students who are about to enter universities, further showcasing their dedication to educational excellence.

Through the ongoing monthly financial support scheme, the temple continues to pledge support for university students until they complete their studies. Temple trustees and administrative members frequently visit Sri Lanka to oversee and extend their support to VCF’s initiatives, further strengthening these humanitarian efforts.
